Double your impact. Match funding during Human Rights Week
To mark Human Rights Week 2011, law firms Mallesons Stephen Jaques, Blake Dawson and DLA Piper have generously committed to match all public donations made to the Human Rights Law Centre between 5 and 10 December. That is, for every dollar you donate, the law firms will donate another dollar.
Human rights are at a critical juncture in Australia.
The coming years will bring difficult challenges, but also great opportunities, for freedom, equality and the rule of law.
The coming years will also present great opportunities and challenges for the Human Rights Law Centre and our supporters.
For the last six years, we have promoted human rights through principled, strategic, evidence-based research, advocacy, litigation and education. Together with key partners, we have established constitutional protection of the right to vote, coordinated “world’s best practice” reports on human rights in Australia to the UN and secured legal protection of the right to healthcare in detention.
We’ve also made almost 200 major policy submissions, delivered pro bono legal services worth over $10 million and provided human rights training to more than 15,000 people.
We now need your support to build on this record of human rights achievement and impact. We do not receive any recurrent Commonwealth funding and our funding agreement with the Victorian Government ends in 2012. The generous funds we receive from philanthropic trusts are time-limited and project-based.
Your donation will be a critical investment in confronting the human rights challenges and opportunities ahead.
Now is the time to invest in principled human rights leadership. Now is the time to invest in the Human Rights Law Centre.
The HRLC relies heavily on donations from individuals, business and foundations for its continued operation and growth. The HRLC has been endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a deductible gift recipient. Donations of $2 or more are fully tax deductible.
