Background:

The National Human Rights Consultation was an historic opportunity for individuals and organisations to have their say about the promotion and protection of human rights in Australia.  The Consultation received over 35,000 submissions and hosted 66 community roundtables in 52 locations throughout Australia.

The views and ideas offered by the Australian community during the consultation process were documented in a report delivered to the Australian Government on 30 September 2009.

This report will inform the development of human rights law and policy in Australia.
