Erika Feller, Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
Erika Feller is one of Australia’s most senior UN diplomats, in charge of international protection for the UN’s refugee agency, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. She has worked in human rights for over 35 years and is a globally recognised authority and practitioner in refugee law. Her previous posts include Head of Human Rights in the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and UNHCR Representative in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
Through the UNHCR, Ms Feller has undertaken protection oversight missions to most major refugee emergencies of recent years, including in West Africa, Darfur and Chad, the Caucusus, the Balkans, Colombia, Timor and Iraq.
In this lecture, Ms Feller addressed the challenges of protecting people in situations of conflict and crisis in a changing world.
