HRLRC Focus Areas

The HRLRC has identified the following thematic priorities to focus its work:

1.    Charters of Rights, including the Victorian Charter of Human Rights

The Centre seeks to provide leadership and contribute to the development, operation and entrenchment of Charters of Rights at a national, state and territory level.  Click here to view the work of the HRLRC that relates to the Victorian Charter of Human Rights.  The Centre is also currently focusing on the National Human Rights Consultation.

2.    Equality Rights

The Centre seeks to promote equality rights, particularly the rights of people with disabilities, people with mental illness and Indigenous peoples.  Click here to view the work of the HRLRC that relates to equality rights.

3.    ESC Rights

The Centre seeks to contribute to the promotion, protection and entrenchment of economic, social and cultural rights, particularly the rights to housing and to adequate health care.  Click here to view the work of the HRLRC that relates to ESC rights.

4.    People in Detention

The Centre seeks to promote the human rights of detained persons, including prisoners, involuntary patients and persons deprived of liberty by operation of counter-terrorism laws and measures.  Click here to view the work of the HRLRC that relates to people in detention.
